I HIT A MOTORCYCLIST – 08/09/09

Since 1996 of driving experienced, today I had hit a motorcyclist for the very 1st time. It happened at the normal driveway to the basement parking of the office building.

On that day, there was a long que at the entrance of the basement parking. This was due to the technical error which then had lead to the non working auto gate. With this error, the parking attendant instructed us to make a U-Turn to temporarily park at the open space parking that was just in front of the office building. So, everyone started to make the said U-Turn including me. Once a U-turn was made, there’s a junction with a little hilly road to cross to the right where everyone was heading.

Everything goes smooth at 1st. Came to my turned, I had given my right signal to informed my action as I saw the motorcyclist but I just don’t understand why I did not stop before I cross and at the same time the motorcyclist did the same thing. She did not stop her motorbike whilst she saw me un-break my car.

With that result, I had hit her… This was what so called panic I supposed, as I am still in my driving mode even though I knew that I had hit a motorcyclist. Once I noticed I’d hit the wrong paddle, I quickly stop my car. I saw the girl was in pain as her motorbike fall on her leg. I ran towards her and did not know what to do but to hug to cool her down as I understood that she’s in pain, shaking of shock and at the same time frightened. Not only her I was shocked too and seeing her in that condition, I suddenly felt sad and was broke into tears. (terfikir kalau tu anak I !!! – hua hua)

After the other passers by lift-up the motorbike, I offered myself to send her to the nearest clinic. She called her office colleagues to take care of her motorbike.

On the way to the clinic, I explained what had happened and she too felt that she was wrong too for not stopping as she expected me to stop coz normally cars will stop before they make any turn. She’s right as that is what I normally do. Only on that day I had wrongly hit the drive paddle instead. She said that it could be avoided if she’s the one who stop moreover when she saw me not stopping…

After doctor’s confirmed that there wasn’t any serious injured, I sent her home. I asked if she live with her parents so that I could drop by and appologised to the parents too, but she said she live with her friends. Her parents are in Kedah.

Alhamdulillah, there was no serious things happened. Her motorbike had safely taken care off by her office colleagues and as for my car, only the front bumper clip was pulled out.

Difficult to described my own feeling in this incidents. My mind keep thinking of my children on the road … moreover when they are far away from family..

Through my passed experienced to a serious injuries of my son, he himself fell from his motorbike. A lorry driver who contacted my husband to informed about the incident and even called the ambulance to recue my son did a very good thing. Until today we have not managed to meet up with the lorry driver. “Allah sahaja yg akan membalas segala jasa baiknya”

So, to all road users out there be very carefull ok.

To Rafiza, the motorcyclist that I hit, believe me Allah knows best, setiap sesuatu kejadian ada pengajaran. I am sure either U or me, we have had our lesson learnt, right!
