2ND TERM SCHOOL BREAK : POT LUCK PICNIC

7th June 09, we organized a family gathering pot luck picnic in Ulu Langat, Selangor. There were 7 families all together and everyone met up at the destination as planned. Unfortunately, three of my intermediate family members (including my sister in Langkawi) was unable to join us as they are out of town. Ulu Langat is a very popular picnic location in Malaysia especially within the Selangor area due to its origin forest and beautiful river banks.

Normally during this period, there are many people ‘hunting’ for a suitable area to have their picnic at the river bank side and the chalet will be fully booked before time. Anyway as for us, our mom cousin’s chalet makes avail for our family gathering picnic. The chalet is just beside the river, complete with the electrical facilities such as TV with Astro programme (just insert your own Astro card), kettle, fan & 1 sofa bed. The owner, Hj Ismail Basar & family welcome us as we reached to his chalet. On top of that, he & his family warmed us more by inviting all to fish at his fish pond behind his bungalow
.

The best thing was everyone brought their own dish and luckily all the dishes are variety eventhough we have not plan for what food to bring. My 2 brothers and my mom prepared fish & lamb to grill, sambal udang petai, kurma daging, special gravy to be eaten with the grill item called “penchek”, nasi impit & plain rice. Each of my three aunties prepared ‘Rojak’, Japanese food, sandwiches, fried mee hoon & coconut jelly respectively. From my family, we prepared “Asam Laksa”. We have mineral syrup sour plum for our drinks.

We had so much fun the whole day at the Lopoh River dipping & playing among family and have fun together in the river. The boys & guys went fishing later in the evening and as for us (girls & ladies), we went for an evening walk to the nearby jungle toured by Pn Ana (Hj Ismail’s wife). Meanwhile at the pond, my son managed to fished up 3 Talipia Merah which he then released it back into the pond whilst my nephew fished up 1 Haruan and he brought it back for his mom who had gift birth via operation.

As there’s still a lot of food left, Pn Ana generously cooked plain rice and all of us had dinner at the chalet before we bid goodbye to each other. They even invited us to spend a night at their chalet, but we had to take a ‘raincheck’. Furthermore, my eldest daughter will sit for the last exam paper the very next day.

On overall my husband & I personally enjoyed our day especially with the presence of all our incumbents with us, our parents, aunties, uncles, brothers, in-law plus nieces & nephews. We are very happy to see how they corporate plus taking care of each other among their siblings & cousins. In fact the elder fed food to the younger cousins as they refused to get up from the river!!

For everyone out there who would like to experience this joyful picnic place, pls call 012-3667410 for booking and information.

If you are adventurous enough, you could climb the mountain to reach the top of the waterfall which is more beautiful. According to Pn Ana, the distance to the waterfall is about 2 hours walking from her chalet
.
So, lets check it out!
